The external SINGLE enclosure offers place for a total of five 3.5'' SATA I/II/III hard drives. It is largely made of aluminum and is therefore stable and conducts the heat generated particularly well. The cooling of the drives is also assisted by a large 120 mm fan on the back side and corresponding ventilation inlets on the doors of the drive on the front. The doors of the individual slots are lockable.
The system's LEDs provide information about operation and hard disk usage. As an extensive data storage device, it can therefore show its full function. The external USB 3.1 (Gen 2) interface with UASP support, which is available as well, plays a role in this as it provides the possibility to use hard disks without any capacity limitations.
The IB-3805-C31's capabilities include various user-friendly functions. These include for example the trayless hard disk installation and the energy-saving standby mode. But also, the HotSwap ability, Plug & Play, the support of Windows as well as macOS systems and the hard disks which can be switched on and off individually without interrupting the USB connection are meaningful features. The new additional USB 3.1 (Gen 2) Type-C HUB interface, useful for a second IB-3805-C31 in a daisy chain connection is helpful, in case the need for further drives arises.
